Netflix Orders “GLOW” Series
Fans of female-centric wrestling will be treated to an upcoming Netflix series, “GLOW,” based on the real-life wrestling show from the 1980s.
Netflix has given a 10-episode order to G.L.O.W., a comedy-series executive produced by Orange Is the New Black creator/executive producer Jenji Kohan and Orange co-executive producer Tara Herrmann.
Carly Mensch[1]Liz Flahive copyCreated by Liz Flahive (Homeland) and Carly Mensch (Orange Is the New Black), G.L.O.W. was inspired by the real story of the 1980s female wrestling league. I don’t know enough about wrestling to know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing.
G.L.O.W. came on television when I was ten years old, and when I first saw it I think I heard angels blaring trumpets in Heaven. Watching sexy women in tights beating the heck out of each other was incredibly arousing to me at a primordial level, and I taped every episode that I could. G.L.O.W. is one of the reasons why I’m into superheroines so much now, and it motivated me to write the UWWL stories that I still write to this day. Later there was there spinoff show P.O.W.W. and I actually liked that better because it was a… Read more »
im super excited about it!. The story they will tell… is all of our story’s. For me it went like this. Dec 1985 A young girl quit her day job, packed her bags for Las Vegas and filmed a Pilot called G.L.O.W. Gorgeous Ladies Of Wrestling, they called Her “Hollywood” if it was not for that show, I would not be on this post.
I for one am VERY HAPPY you went to Vegas in 1985! You look better then ever!!!!
Thank you Raiderman!
You are still one of the sexiest women alive
They should upload the original series.
Best matches were the bar room brawls. Check out Texas vs Ninotchka on youtube, Simply amazing.
GLOW brings back some very ancient memories.
I got excited at first thinking there would be a GLOW with new matches. Would be awesome if it came back. This show started my love for heroine peril.
Hope the actress in this series plays a lovely good girl and get’s squashed a few times. And as far as GLOW coming back ever , maybe if Ursulla Hayden ( Babe the Farmers Daughter ) will finally sell the rights to someone who WILL get GLOW back in the ring we will be in business
Yeah that would be amazing. I always thought the GLOW jobbers were some of the best in the business.
I hope they’ll be wearing hi-cut leotards as the video above, and NOT those CONSERVATIVE low cut shorts like the WWE “Divas” wears. How was it that the male wrestlers there still wear briefs and the Divas don’t wear panty-style sport bikinis? 🙁
Given that the show will be set in the 80s, I expect they will wear 80s wrestling fashions.
Curious about this , will be glad to see GLOW back in some way , shape , & form as Ursulla Hayden Babe the Farmers Daughter & GLOW rights holder ) has not gotten GLOW back in the ring in her tenure other then a 2 or 3 show new GLOW that hardly anyone knows about , I know they had a 2 or 3 show return but have ZERO clue as to the matches & characters , can’t wait more more info & hopefully , teasers
When I first came across this bit of news it was a pleasant surprise, but very much a surprise nonetheless.
For obvious reasons I remember his show fondly from my childhood, but how well known was it in the US when it first aired?
back when it was first broadcast, i was living in guam, believe it or not, and caught most of the episodes.
seasons 1 and 2 1986-87 aired all over the US in many markets!
