“I’m Back!!” – Message from Megan Guzman of The Locked Basement
Hi everybody,
For those of you who didn’t know, I ended up going to Europe for the past 6 months on a pretty last minute trip. But I’m now back, and really exciting to finally get settled in again & start shooting!
I did need one more piece of feedback from you guys if that’s okay. I’ve been struggling with a decision on this for ages, and time hasn’t helped…
I’m struggling between a fluid storyline, and scenes/fights that follow a storyline…and shooting in seasons. Similar to how NGC has seasons. OR, to just find a way to keep new scenarios coming up, etc etc – new material, but no real solution to their plight in sight?
Been struggling with this for a while now, and I keep forgetting I’ve never made a movie before. I keep letting my imagination get WAY AHEAD of me lol
Super excited to be back, and can’t wait to reconnect with all of you again <3
Love Megan

Hi Megan Well, I have no idea how your post ended up in my friend notification, I don’t really remember we have been friend, probably my partner added you when he still have access to this account? Anyway, it is always good to hear new content and new company starting up, and as an established producer (well, I am not sure if this is the word since still not too many people have heard of us). Let me also try to give you some pointer. Notice that I am not sure which type of Superhero Content you are into, so… Read more »
Hi there!! Wow, I just saw this now…I’m sorry I didn’t see it sooner & reply!! I’ve read every word you wrote. Thank You. I’ve definitely made some mistakes thus far, and as such don’t have much content yet. But changing that literally this week, as I managed to shoot on Monday 🙂 Definitely going to refer back to this post as I proceed. Thank You for taking the time to write such a detailed piece, genuinely appreciated. I already made the mistake of shooting some short episodes with my iPhone and kinda learning how to edit as I go,… Read more »
How old are you where are you from and why were you interested in this
I’m 20, from Western Canada, and I’m pretty sure I’ve been demented since I was born >:-)
I’ve always been into wrestling & fighting, ever since I was little. Always loved submission wrestling, the more challenging the better. I used to get in trouble as a kid for fighting on the playground all the time…spent almost an entire year cutting up cardboard milk cartons for recycling during recess because my friends & I got into a big fight in like the first week of school lol (This was like Grade 3?) Always loved wrestling & fighting. Always been a scrapper. And always low key loved the DiD scenes in TV shows & movies, but never told anyone… Read more »
Ive always enjoyed rough sex, so i dont think your twisted at all. Lol
Would love to some videos about some superheroines having to fight their way out of a huanted house full monster from some of the old great horror movies. Like jason and freddie and such.
As long as there is lots of strangling or choking!!
I love the idea of continuity in the story – but as others have said, it could be a daunting task. I would suggest some “short stories” (stories that span a few episodes) but still try to keep it within an over arching framework of the universe you’re creating.
For example, story A could focus on a heroine who is captured and tortured and whatever else over a few episodes. Story B could focus on a different heroine altogether but still make references to what happened to the other heroine – just to tie it together a little
Hey Meg. Personally, I’m a huuuuuuuuge fan of characters having a sense of continuity. Bluebird from NGC is a great example. She’s just been through so much that it makes the peril all the hotter to me. Though of course there are logistics for that to work around as has been mentioned, live having consistent actresses and actors. That’s my quick two cents for whatever it’s worth. I had thought you were gone for good but I’m glad that’s not the case. Sometimes these things can fall through for many reasons. Like a bunch of years ago I lived in… Read more »
I don’t have much experience in the realm of storytelling or production, I’m just here for the show! That being said, it’s so good to hear from you again. I was thinking maybe you had abandoned your journey and checked your page every now and then! Glad you’re back 🙂 can’t wait to see what you have in store!
Hi Megan, I almost never comment in other people’s threads but since I’m mentioned in the write up I will say this: If you want to embark on an on-going story line with recurring characters then make sure as far as you can that you have a strong relationship with actors, that they are reliable and enjoy making the content. I can’t count how many times a story idea has been torpedoed for me because someone was a bit flaky or their life situation massively changed seemingly overnight. Without a core of 5 or so people who are with you… Read more »
Hi!!
Thank You so much Truly!
I’ve been a huge fan of you guys for YEARS now, and even referred other people to you guys also who ended up getting super into the genre 🙂
Can’t even begin to count how many videos I’ve downloaded over the years, but it’s been a wee few 🙂
Awesome advice. Thanks. Both this & a reply below really helped me narrow down what I needed to.
Do you need creative input from writers ?
Always 🙂
What is you email? Id love to contribute

Welcome back! Thought this project had fallen to the wayside like some tend to do. Anyhow, my 2c not being a producer is that it would be easier to pursue the latter “new scenarios”. I can only imagine it becomes hard to link up all scenarios and characters into a continuous storyline. Maybe some stories can go a couple of episodes and maybe some will be one and done. That flexibility probably makes each episode’s content easier to write. Good luck!
Thank You so much. I needed that.
Had so many ideas rolling around in my head, but trying to get them all tied together into a coherent story was SOOOOOOOO hard to do. Love the idea of breaking them down into smaller stories. Good thinking.
I’m hoping to shoot a trailer over the next few days and finally get rolling. Weather is getting chilly, good time to settle in with protein coffee & a camera 🙂
So umm…who are you again?
This comes of a bit snarky, but a reintroduction might actually be useful.
Hi 🙂 I was going to reply to this earlier, sorry – school all day, and then just a whirlwind after. One of those days that was super busy, but somehow very unproductive at the end… My name is Megan Guzman, and I’ve been wanting to start up a “Superheroine In Peril” series for a while now, but with a twist. Instead of going with Superheroines, I’m trying to go down a darker, perhaps more supernatural/horror angle instead. Super new to film making, so it’s just some friends & I with our iPhones at the moment. Literally starting from scratch.… Read more »
If you don’t mind me asking, where are you based? I may be able to offer some decent video camera equipment and help you with the production (i.e. being a cameraman with said equipment) and/or video editing assistance (if necessary) if you are anywhere in the south-eastern part of the UK?
Canada here. Western Canada at that.
Shame, I’d happily relocate to the UK at the snap of a finger! Thanks for the offer though 🙂 <3
Do you have IG page?
Ooooohhhh, not yet…I’m one of those weird white girls who doesn’t have ANY social media, minus Snapchat 😛
Good idea tho 🙂
Shooting content this weekend hopefully, so good idea! Can start an IG page for it
