“Game Over 2” from Lucia Films
Tens of thousands of rigged battles. Tens of thousands of humiliating losses. Fantastigirl continues to have her mind and dignity torn apart as player after player in the VR world assaults her. This harrowing process has changed the once weak heroine. Forged her into a force so unstoppable that the digital mastermind Glasses has altered the game to compensate. PRODUCER’S NOTE: Hey! Lucia here. Wanted to explain a little behind the scenes bit about this movie and the timeline/effects that take place in it. We actually shot this movie BEFORE we released the first GAME OVER, and had no idea that it was going to be popular. We made it because we are nerds and thought a video game oriented movie would be fun. As such we went nuts with effects and took litteral months to get around to finishing editing it. In the sequel, because we didn’t think GAME OVER was going to be very popular, we waaayyyyy dialed back on the effects. We were also unable to incorporate a lot of the really great ideas people posted after the release of GAME OVER as the sequel had been shot already when it was released.
Just wanted to clarify this in case anyone is expecting this to be the special effects extravaganza the first GAME OVER was. We didn’t want anyone to be disappointed or feel misled. There are still lots of special effects, but some of the crazy elements (Like the UI) are absent. Though reasons for this are explained in the movie too. We take our quality seriously and want to give you guys the best we can. Knowing what we do now, if this movie is anywhere as remotely well received as the first, we’ll know exactly how hard to hit the third installment!

Game Over 2 for me was 2018’s best film of year. Granted this is my opinion and you’re free to tell me “Go to hell! was the best of the year” but at least let me make the case for Game Over 2. The first thing I really love about Game Over 2 is that it’s a really great self-contained story even though it takes place after GameOver 1. Very intriguing and compelling description. I’ve gotten a few Lucia films, including “Skullion: Monsters”, which I gather features the same character. I liked “Monsters” (my first video with Coco, believe it or not) and recently got the “Wicked…” videos, and they’ve all been very interesting. Still on the fence about buying more, though, because the prices are pretty steep, compared with other stuff I buy. I’m looking to get more from Lucia, since I love that they’re making videos with unique scenarios, expressive lighting, good visual effects, and engaging cinematography. I wasn’t too impressed by the recent Wicked video mainly on account on performances by the lead actresses but the Game Over series is certainly worth everyone’s time in my opinion. Like I mentioned above, Game Over 2 is the better film but that’s not to say Game Over 1 isn’t great as well. I would say that if funds are limited, given that you and I have similar taste in being NGC super fans, Game Over 2 would probably be more in your wheelhouse. I didn’t like the “Wicked” videos as much as I was hoping, but Darcie Dolce was pretty good, I thought. My main limitation on price is that the more I spend on a video, the more prone I am to buyer’s remorse if it doesn’t meet my expectations. Thanks for the recommendation.
YEEEESS!!! I so understand that bit about price and buyer’s remorse. Happens to me countless times. It actually got so bad in the past that I instituted a hard ban on myself for R rated stuff over $25 for years no matter how good it looked. Last year I relaxed it a bit and towards the end of the year I relaxed it a lot. A note on lighting: Since it comes up a lot in our videos due to our dramatic lighting (Too dark!), I went out and got a few other computer monitors, new and old to test out the footage on. I was VERY surprised at the way the film looked on older monitors, and ones with factory base settings. It was indeed a lot more murky and dark. (Especially the ending of Skullion: Monsters and the beginning of GAME OVER 1!) Since the first video which Lucia released I have always wanted to buy one, but never did until today (something always seemed to conspire against me), so to make up for it I bought two right away; Game Over 2 as it looked awesome and Prisoner 42 as that is one I have always wanted. You might really enjoy Scarlet: Reunion. Not only is it one of our favorite movies, but we used a white out effect that punches everything up very bright! Might be a great fit for your preferences.

Funnily enough, I was just recently sitting around a studio with Steve Noir and chatting with him about that exact thing! He plays heavy into the horror side of the genre which I am a huge fan of. (You’ll notice horror themed camera angles and stings sneak into our films a lot.) So a collaboration isn’t just possible, it is highly likely!

The thing about collaborations for customs is though, they can sometimes result in a pretty hefty price tag as now two different producers are pouring their time and work into a singular project. For a passion project the financial loss isn’t that big of a deal because that isn’t totally the point of a for-fun passion project between two producers. Where everything tends to be on laxer time tables because the work can be stretched out as needed with no real rush or impetus. Sorry that you are put off by the lighting! That is a stylistic choice for most of our movies to try and bump up that comic book feel by creating strong highlights and silhouettes. Not for everyone I suppose! Thank you for the kind words on our film otherwise, we hope we can make one some day that meets your tastes better.
While in some films I do think sometimes the lighting can get too dark (or too bright!), this is not the case with this one. Rest assured that for the entire length of the video, you can see every glorious detail without squinting your eyes. And actually, I found the lighting better in this one than in the previous GameOver.

We definitely hear and understand the complaints with some of our videos. Like I said in the big post above, we were actually shocked when we saw them on some different monitors. We (admittedly) have really nice, expensive monitors that we use for our editing computers and really took for granted how different things could look on different setups or settings. Lesson learned and being learned! It is great to hear that we were able to dial it in better on this film. Thanks for the input!
